1. Commitment to Sustainable Operations

At Eximex UK, sustainability is not an abstract concept but a guiding principle embedded across all aspects of our logistics and distribution. Our 3rd party warehouses are central to our operations, we monitor and request they operate to good standards, we actively encourage them to be greener, we ensure that the environmental footprint of our supply chain is reduced at every stage. Our Greener Distribution Policy sets out clear actions to minimise waste, improve energy efficiency, and build a resilient and environmentally responsible logistics network.

2. Energy Efficiency and Renewable Power

One of the most impactful changes implemented at the factory has been the transition to 100% LED lighting across all warehouse facilities. This upgrade has significantly reduced electricity consumption and operating costs while also lowering carbon emissions. In addition to improving efficiency, attention has been given to how energy is sourced. Solar panels have been installed to generate renewable power onsite, ensuring that warehouse operations are both efficient and sustainable. Collectively, these measures demonstrate a clear commitment to addressing climate change through tangible and measurable actions.

3. Waste Reduction and Recycling Initiatives

Waste reduction is another cornerstone of the Greener Distribution Policy. Eximex has established integrated recycling programmes that divert significant volumes of materials from landfill. We also encourage within our Supply Chain the recycling of cardboard, plastics, and wooden pallets, as well as the repurposing of trailer curtains that would otherwise be discarded. By regenerating pallets and returning materials into productive use, the company reduces both waste and the demand for virgin resources. These initiatives illustrate how circular economy principles can be embedded into everyday logistics.

4. Smarter Office and Packaging Practices

Sustainability extends beyond the warehouse floor into our office and administrative practices. By reducing paper waste through the use of cloud-based storage platforms, we have cut down on unnecessary printing and created more efficient information management systems. Similarly, our approach to labelling has evolved: by supplying our own labels for inbound goods, we reduce the need for warehouses to print pallet labels using energy-intensive laser printers. This improves staff productivity, reduces downtime caused by printer repairs, and significantly lowers resource waste.

5. Reducing Packaging Waste

Even small details can have a large environmental impact. Our approach to pallet wrapping now incorporates materials made from 30% recycled content, reducing reliance on virgin plastics and supporting recycling markets. By decreasing wastage and making smarter material choices, we strike a balance between protecting goods in transit and protecting the environment. Combined with our broader efforts, this ensures that our warehouses operate with a sustainability-first mindset.

6. Our Main UK Warehouse Boughey Distribution Achieves B-Corp Certification

In June 2024, Boughey Distribution proudly became a Certified B Corporation, achieving an impressive overall score of 81.6, well above the median of 50.9 for ordinary businesses. This certification reflects its rigorous commitment to meeting high benchmarks in governance, environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and transparency. Eximex UK’s Greener Distribution Policy demonstrates that sustainability in warehousing is achievable through a series of deliberate, practical steps.
